The Endoscopy Team at Mount Stuart Hospital is delighted with the inspection's outcome, as it demonstrates the Hospital's on-going commitment to the provision of excellent endoscopy services and positive patients' outcomes. JAG Accreditation is the formal recognition that an endoscopy service has demonstrated that it has the competence to deliver against the measures in the endoscopy Global Rating Scale (GRS) Standards.

The scheme is a patient-centred and workforce-focused scheme based on the principle of independent assessment against recognised standards. The scheme was developed for all endoscopy services and providers across the UK in the NHS and Independent Sector.

This is formal recognition that an endoscopy service has demonstrated that it has the competence to deliver against the measures in the endoscopy GRS Standards and is designed to accomplish the following:

- Stimulate continuous improvement in processes and patient outcomes

- Strengthen endoscopy services

- Provide a knowledge base of best practices

- Increase patient confidence in services

- Improve the management and efficiency of services

- Provide education on better/best practices

- Provide comparison with self and others

- Enhance the workforce, retention and satisfaction

- Increase chances to add to and grow services

To achieve full JAG Accreditation an endoscopy service must provide clear evidence that they have met all of the GRS Standards. JAG accreditation assessment visits are booked once a service has demonstrated a minimum of a year participating in the GRS standards and at the agreed GRS levels for accreditation.

Nurse Sister & Outpatient Manager, Linda Ranjit said “I am extremely pleased to confirm that the endoscopy unit has met all of the required competencies. The team are to be congratulated for their hard work and commitment for this achievement.”

Jeanette Mercer, General Manager added “A great deal of hard work took place during the accreditation process and I am extremely proud of the team and at the outcome achieved. The team is to be congratulated on an excellent training and revalidation programme for decontamination technicians and on excellent patient involvement in service planning and evaluation."
