With a background in microbiology, John then retrained in physiotherapy and qualified from Bath School of Physiotherapy in 1991. He worked in specialist, private orthopaedic units in Bristol and Reading and also at Wentworth Golf Club. Subsequently moving to Wales, John split his time between his own clinics; dealing predominantly with post-trauma rehabilitation – notably whiplash problems – and the Cardiff Sports Medicine Centre; treating international athletes as well as the Welsh Rugby Union Team. John was also tour physiotherapist with Welsh Mons Hockey squads.
His own sporting background is equestrian since riding as an amateur jockey and internationally in endurance races. John holds post graduate qualifications with the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and in Ergonomics from the University of Surrey. He is a member of the Acupuncture Association of Physiotherapy.
