Microsclerotherapy for thread veins
Microsclerotherapy is a treatment to remove your smaller leg veins that lie just beneath the skins surface, called thread and spider veins. These veins tend to branch out and give a spidery sort of pattern that may cause you to feel self-conscious about them.
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis normally by one of our specialist nurses under the supervision of our vascular surgeon. It involves using a very fine needle to inject a sclerosing drug into your vein to destroy the vein and cause it to disappear. More than one vein can be treated at a time. Your blood will be rerouted through healthier veins and when your vein has collapsed it will be absorbed by your body and eventually fade, usually within a few weeks.
