Mr Mark Ashworth is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Torquay, Devon who specialises in knee replacements.
Mr Ashworth's particular areas of expertise are primary, complex primary and revision joint replacements of both the hip and knee. He has extensive experience of resurfacing of hip joints and unicompartmental knee replacements.
Mr Ashworth also regularly performs knee arthroscopy and cartilage regrowth surgery. He has an interest in chronic compartment syndrome.
Mr Ashworth trained at Manchester University Medical School and then in trauma and orthopaedic surgery on the Oxford Registrar Training Rotation. He was a Fellow in joint revision and sports medicine surgery in Adelaide, Australia (1998). He was appointed as a consultant at Torbay Hospital in 1999.
Mr Ashworth's specialist interest is in young adult hip disease including Femoro-Acetabular Impingement surgery.
He was one of the first surgeons in the UK to offer both open and arthroscopic surgery for hip impingement pain. He has over 10 years of experience of arthroscopic hip surgery and 8 years of experience of hip impingement surgery.
